J's Indie/Rock Mayhem - 24th November 2010

[Welcome to the annual tradition that is a J's Indie/Rock Mayhem Thanksgiving. While what I do on this particular show changes from year to year, it usually involves theme sets of me being 'thankful' for certain things and playing songs that reflect that. This year is no different, and I was thankful for so much that, sadly, it meant no "Alice's Restaurant Masacree" this year. But that's okay. Let Arlo rest for once. I'm really fond of this year's show - or at least, I had a ball putting it on tonight. So here's hoping you enjoy it as much.

If you follow me on Twitter you already know this, but I officially announced the dates for the upcoming year-end shows. Wednesday, December 8th is the annual Top Singles of the Year show; Wednesday, December 15th is the 9th annual J's Indie/Rock Top 25 Albums of the Year show; Wednesday, December 22nd is the Holiday Spectacular. Glad to have that back on the air as opposed to last year when it had to be relegated to merely a podcast and no broadcast. Next week will be the last regular show of the year, so you better enjoy it, because things are about to get crazy the rest of the month. I mean that in the best of ways.

Now, onward.]

J's Indie/Rock Podcast: 24th November 2010 show

Theme Song - Peaches - "Rock Show"
>
Brian Eno - "Horse" [from small craft on a milk sea. this record has been getting pretty solid reviews from various places, but this is my first time playing it on the show. i'm a huge fan of eno's first three albums - the pre-ambient stuff - and have a ton of respect for him as an artist in general. we'll have to hear more. this first block was me being thankful for great, new music.]
Belle and Sebastian - "Come On Sister" [from write about love. this song sounded odd to me at first listen, but by the time the song was through, i was won over by the keyboard effects. pretty catchy song.]
the Corin Tucker Band - "1,000 Years" [the title track from her latest. so, according to an interview tucker did over at eMusic, this song was originally written and pitched for the soundtrack to the film twilight. i guess that explains the thousand years part..]
Abe Vigoda - "Crush" [the title track from their latest, a thoroughly enjoyable album that i'm having a hard time getting enough of.]
>
the Alcazar Hotel - "Suicide King" [these next two sets were themed around being thankful for great north carolina music. thus, the alcazar hotel who were on my show earlier this year and put out this fantastic 7" single this year.]
Lake Isle - "Wake Up" [the title track from this greensboro band's new EP. enjoy seeing them live just about every time i have this year.]
Gray Young - "Ten Years" [from their new album staysail. saw these guys play a fantastic show this past weekend along with jews and catholics and north elementary. bought the new album on (white) vinyl and it comes with a download code if you do. that's the way to sell music, folks. seriously.]
James Marshall Owen - "Nashville" [from gate city get up. we bade goodbye to marshall as he moved to austin, texas earlier in the fall, but he's back home for thanksgiving this week and is playing two shows friday night: the early show, 7 PM, at the green bean, and a late show with his band the subterranean bums, 11 PM, at the blind tiger.]
>
Filthybird - "Pick Me Up" [from songs for other people. i really enjoy this song a lot - the chorus is pretty infectious. we'll hear some more off this before the end of the year.]
Megafaun - "Lazy Suicide" [from bury the square. even though my reason for including them is the heretofore EP, i've played it so much recently and, well, obviously it's going to get play on the upcoming year-end shows, so i decided to play something off their debut LP. thus, this song, an old staple of the show.]
the Foreign Exchange - "Everything Must Go" [from authenticity. fantastic news - the foreign exchange will be playing at the carolina theatre here in greensboro next wednesday, december 1st. i would really love to go. here's hoping.]
Adam Thorn and the Top Buttons - "Through That Hallway" [from the new self-titled record. i enjoy the word play in this song (as i do in a lot of adam's stuff) and the closing line of the song makes me smile every time.]
>
Sharon Van Etten - "Save Yourself" [from epic. these two sets had the theme of great live performances i saw this year. not only did i see sharon knock 'em dead on her own at the hopscotch festival, but she also was part of the fantastic sounds of the south performance with megafaun, fight the big bull and justin vernon. truly awesome. did anyone see her with junip this monday at the cat's cradle?]
the Posies - "Love Letter Boxes" [from frosting on the beater. yes, they have an excellent new album out, but when i saw the posies last week, they pulled this out, my favorite song from their 1993 album. it was a highlight of a really fantastic show.]
Doomtree - "Game Over" [from their self-titled 2008 album. i went and saw the doomtree collective this past sunday at local 506 in chapel hill and was floored. i literally loved every moment of the show and every member of the group performed with great flare, but admittedly, this banger was one of the highlights.]
Twin Sister - "All Around and Away We Go" [from color your life which is bound for year-end glory as well. saw these guys open for bear in heaven in chicago; i had no clue who they were. 40 minutes later they had completely won me over. amazing.]
>
Active Child - "I'm in Your Church at Night" [from curtis lane. more of the live shows that made me thankful for live music this year - another hopscotch stand out. plus there's a new video for this song. looking forward to the full length next year.]
Titus Andronicus - "A More Perfect Union" [from the monitor. to say they tore the afternoon apart at pitchfork festival is no small statement, but completely accurate. really one of the most energetic and raucous shows there.]
Bear in Heaven - "Wholehearted Mess" [from beast rest forth mouth. the three times i saw them perform this year were each a wonder. and if you've seen them live, you know what i mean.]
Lower Dens - "Hospice Gates" [from twin-hand movement. when we brought this band in for a show at guilford, i had no clue who they were. now they're one of my favorites of this year; in no small part because of their live show.]
>
Conrad Plymouth - "Metamora" [from their self-titled EP. this set was a tribute to bands i got hipped to through blogs and friends this year that i might not have heard otherwise. this band is simply astounding and i have ryan at muzzle of bees to thank for that. thanks, man.]
R. Stevie Moore - "California Rhythm" [from phonography. this is a record i got turned on to via a post at aquarium drunkard. mid 70s self-printed records. gotta love it.]
Stornoway - "Zorbing" [from beachcomber's windowsill. this is a record i was introduced to via the greensboro record club and man, what an album. i'm still thoroughly enjoying it even this many months in.]
>
Jay Reatard - "There Is No Sun" [from watch me fall. this last set was about me being thankful for the lives of musicians who passed away this year. in the case of reatard, all too soon. he is missed.]
Sparklehorse - "It's a Wonderful Life" [so is mark linkous. this is the title track from his band's 2001 album. i would have included vic chesnutt here, but he did technically die last year, but his death no less colored the tone of this year as it seemed to kick off an unfortunate chain of deaths of great musicians who meant a lot to me. linkous' suicide was another one of those.]
Big Star - "Thank You Friends" [from third/sister lovers. and of course, probably the biggest looming deaths of 2010 proper, alex chilton and andy hummel of big star. i cannot wait for the third/sister lovers tribute shows at the cats cradle on december 9th and 10th. they're going to be ridiculously awesome.]

That'll do it for this week. I hope you all have a fantastic Thanksgiving and I will see you again next week. Until then, Go Panthers!, and take care.

J's Indie/Rock Mayhem - 17th November 2010

[Welcome to another edition of J's Indie/Rock Mayhem. I'm still working my way slowly through the problem with my podcast host - apparently it's something I did that I didn't even realize I had done. Oh, well. Either way, it'll be another week before regular Wednesday night uploading to the podhost/iTunes will return, as opposed to weekend uploads. Until then, please remember to come here to the blog and download the podcast using the link below.

Now, it's late, so, onward.]

J's Indie/Rock Podcast: 17th November 2010 show

Theme Song - Peaches - "Rock Show"
>
Urge Overkill - "Effigy" [their first new music in over fifteen years, this song is a teaser for a new album that 2/3rds of the original lineup are working on with two new members that will probably be out next year. if you don't normally read the a.v. club, then you really ought to check out this series of articles that have been rolling out this past month or so. i'd start with the second one, personally. it makes the first one, which is just a touch weak (and exposition heavy) easier to get through and makes the series much more enticing - a great look at the explosive 'alternative' music boom of the 90s.]
Pulp - "Party Hard" [from this is hardcore. it was announced this past week that pulp is going to reform to play some dates next year over in england. i'm not holding my breath for an american tour, but hey, maybe some big festival date or something. that might actually drag me out to bonaroo or coachella for a change.]
Brendan Benson - "Eyes on the Horizon" [from my old familiar friend. brendan is playing tomorrow night, thursday, november 18th at the cat's cradle in carborro, nc along with the posies. can't wait for that show.]
Soundgarden - "Rusty Cage" [from badmotorfinger. since i was thinking of those awesome alternative articles posted above, i figure i'd throw on another soundgarden track from this record. second in about three weeks or so. i think i've passed my soundgarden quota for a year or two now.]
>
Belle and Sebastian - "The Ghost of Rock School" [from write about love, their latest. i haven't gotten a proper listen to the whole album yet, but we'll hear more, i'm sure.]
the Church - "Spark" [from starfish. i hate that i missed them last time through with their 30 year retrospective set. the one time i saw the church years ago was a weird set of circumstances. i'd like to see them again and fix that.]
Telekinesis - "Game of Pricks" [from parallel seismic conspiracies. a cover of the guided by voices classic. good stuff. can't wait for the new album next year.]
that dog. - "Minneapolis" [from retreat from the sun. one of my all time favorite that dog songs. pretty much everything this band did, as far as i'm concerned, is fantastic. any agreement out there?]
>
Horse Feathers - "Drain You" [a new single and yes, that's a cover of the nirvana song from nevermind. you can check out a post about this and the b-side over at aquarium drunkard. good stuff. here's an interview i did with horse feathers' justin ringle last year as well.]
Bob Dylan - "Summer Days" [from "love and theft". still not sure why the quotation marks are included in that album title, but whatever. bob can do what he wants. hard to believe this album will be ten years old next year.]
the Foreign Exchange - "Maybe She'll Dream of Me" [from authenticity. great track from a great album. i really love the first FE record, but these last two records and their r&b detours have been really enjoyable.]
Bjork - "Army of Me" [from post which, honestly, is one amazing record. been re-listening to it for the first time in ages and i'm loving it just as much as when it blew me away for the first time in high school. sorry, sandra. i still have your copy.]
>
Glasser - "Apply" [from the album ring. really continuing to dig this stuff. we'll have to hear even more next week maybe.]
the Streets - "David Hassels" [a one-off single released via twitter last year on mike skinner's twitter account. if i read his tweeting correctly last week, the streets have a new album out in the UK? is that right? i see they have a whole slate of UK tour dates in february of next year, so maybe that makes sense? hope it's better than the last two is all.]
the Limousines - "Internet Killed the Radio Star" [from get sharp. this is a fluffy, stupid pop song but it's addictive and dancey and it has one hell of a great video and it's rare that i watch a video more than once anymore. good job.]
the Posies - "Take Care of Yourself" [from blood/candy. can't wait to see them for the first time tomorrow night.]
>
Sharon Van Etten - "Peace Signs" [from epic. sharon will be at the cat's cradle next monday, november 22nd, along with junip, the new band from jose gonzales. pretty awesome show, no doubt.]
Public Image Ltd. - "Public Image" [from public image: first issue, their debut. ironically i decided to play this because of seeing a video of pearl jam covering this song live. it left me wanting, to say the least, so i dug up the original for better play. much better.]
Wild Nothing - "O Lilac" [from gemini which is a really, really great record and i hate i haven't played more off of it this year. top 25 bound, most likely.]
Paul Westerberg - "Whatever Makes You Happy" [from suicaine gratifaction. i missed out on securing a copy of the mr. f single release the other week. i'm upset and sad to say the least. i'll find a copy one day.]
>
Adam Thorn and the Top Buttons - "Life's a Bummer" [from their sophomore self-titled release. i don't know what it is about this song that gets to me, but it's a really gorgeous song and kind of hits a sharp, self-effacing point. westerbergian and dylan at the same time. i like it. we'll hear more.]
the Shop Assistants - "It's Up to You" [from the C-86 compilation. one of the loveliest songs from the legendary NME compilation. if you've never heard this thing, it's well worth hunting down just to hear a world of post-psychedelic, post-punk and twee all sort of wrapped into a big bundle.]
the Corin Tucker Band - "Pulling Pieces" [from 1,000 years. if you haven't already caught my interview with corin tucker over at aquarium drunkard, well, go to it.]
Brilliant Colors - "I Searched" [from introducing. a friend mentioned this band on facebook this week and i'd forgotten how much i'd enjoyed the couple of songs i played earlier this year. problem rectified.]
>
Travel by Sea - "Eventually" [from two states and the blindness that follows. this new album is really fantastic. a great late-year entry into the battle for this year's best-of lists.]
Lissie - "In Sleep" [live from the aquarium drunkard sessions. this is just a truly gorgeous song and i hope i get to catch lissie live sometime soonish. soonish being within the next year or so.]

That'll do it for this week's show. Join me next week for the annual Thanksgiving Extravaganza and if you're at the Posies/Brendan Benson tomorrow night, do say hello. Until then, Go Panthers! and take care.

J's Indie/Rock Mayhem - 10th November 2010

[Welcome to another edition of J's Indie/Rock Mayhem. I had a lot of fun with tonight's show and I think the songs are pretty well matched this evening. I'm especially fond of the pairs of Young Marble Giants/Hole and Dillard and Clark/Velvet Crush. All in all, a pretty enjoyable show.

I didn't play any of him tonight, but Adam Thorn is playing his CD release show at the Maya Gallery on Tate Street tomorrow, Thursday, November 11th. The new album is supposed to be amazing, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the show and picking up the album. Also, WQFS is hosting Bear in Heaven at Dana Auditorium on Guilford College campus next Monday, November 15th at 8pm. It's a free show and you definitely should come to it.

Finally, this week and next, I'll continue to have to upload the podcasts, initially, to my own space and they'll be added to the Libsyn/iTunes feed on Saturdays of each week. Sorry for the inconvenience, but at least it will still be available for direct download.

Update: Podcast link updated.

Now, while the warm weather holds, onward.]

J's Indie/Rock Podcast: 10th November 2010 show

Theme Song - Peaches - "Rock Show"
>
Crocodiles - "Hollow Hollow Eyes" [from sleep forever. this is probably going to end up on my year-end list somewhere. i'm just really loving this album a lot.]
Fugazi - "Cashout" [from the argument. it's hard to believe that next fall will be a full decade since this, fugazi's last album, was released. it's even crazier to think about how amazing this record is and how much of a high point they went out on, for sure.]
the Corin Tucker Band - "Riley" [from 1,000 years. my interview with corin tucker is up over at aquarium drunkard. go check it out and enjoy. one more idol off my list of ones to interview.]
the Afghan Whigs - "Debonair" [from gentlemen. if i can go a few weeks without playing the afghan whigs, well, i don't know. i know i play them a lot, but really, can you think of a reason not to play the afghan whigs each week? that's what i thought. nope.]
>
the Tallest Man on Earth - "The Dreamer" [from sometimes the blues is just a passing bird. the av club reviewed this record and referred to this song as the great lost britpop song. kind of amusing, but not far off, actually. good stuff from the swede.]
the Broken West - "Down in the Valley" [from i can't go on, i'll go on. one of my absolute favorite singles from a few years ago; ran into it on an old mix of mine the other day and thought it was time to drag it back out.]
Brendan Benson - "Garbage Day" [from my old familiar friend. benson will be at the cat's cradle next thursday, november 18th along with..]
the Posies - "She's Coming Down Again!" [from blood/candy. ..these guys, who are opening. i cannot wait for this show as i've never seen the posies and, frankly, i'm salivating.]
>
Megafaun - "Bonnie's Song" [from heretofore. you can check out my review of this album over at aquarium drunkard. one of my favorites of this year, without question.]
Young Marble Giants - "Music for Evenings" [from colossal youth. i also did a piece this past week on young marble giants' "credit in the straight world" and hole's cover of it from live through this. check it out.]
Hole - "Credit in the Straight World" [from live through this. and i threw in hole's version for good measure. i'm a big fan of the first three hole albums and they were actually my gateway into knowing about young marble giants, so kudos to courtney love for picking a pretty great song to cover.]
the Black Angels - "Bad Vibrations" [from phosphene dream. the lead track from their excellent new album. three cheers for psychedelic shoegaze.]
>
Lissie - "Worried About" (live) [from the aquarium drunkard sessions she recorded earlier this year. you can download all of the tracks over at aquarium drunkard and the head drunkard will be featuring all of them on his sirius satellite radio show this friday at noon and midnight.]
Dillard and Clark - "Train Leaves Here This Morning" [from the fantastic expedition of dillard and clark. i'm a bit ashamed, as much as i love gene clark as a songwriter, that i'd never actually heard the dillard and clark record until this week, but god, i'm glad i finally have. simply stunning.]
the Velvet Crush - "Why Not Your Baby" [from teenage symphonies to god. and i owe it all to the velvet crush, really. this cover of the clark classic (from the same dillard and clark album) is what got me interested in clark in the first place.]
Bear in Heaven - "Casual Goodbye" [from beast rest forth mouth. these guys are going to be at guilford next monday, november 15th at 8pm along with a few other bands for free. if you have never seen this band live, you are in for a serious, serious treat. the show is in dana auditorium so show up and enjoy it. for real.]
>
Telekinesis - "Dirty Thing" [from the parallel seismic conspiracies EP. this is what landed in my inbox last week that i thought was the new LP. instead it's a teaser EP that has a cover of guided by voices' "game of pricks" as well. we'll hear that next week probably.]
Kathleen Edwards - "Somewhere Else" [from back to me. i think this is my favorite kathleen edwards album. it's certainly the one i return to again and again.]
Travel by Sea - "Glimpse of Day" [from two states and the blindness that follows. new album from a former autumn tone records band. really, really good. we'll hear plenty more. i like these guys.]
Lambchop - "Get It" (live) [from the live at merge XX album - i was at this show and it was, literally, in my top 5 shows of all time. just simply astounding.]
>
Jens Lekman - "The End of the World Is Bigger Than Love" [new song from jens who is playing two shows in the states in december - one in new york and one in los angeles. worth the travel, probably.]
Gary Numan - "Metal" [from the pleasure principle. gary is out touring for the 30th anniversary of this album and playing it in its entirety. wish i could have caught some of the shows.]
Pop Will Eat Itself - "Wise Up! Sucker" [from this is the day..this is the hour..this is this! gotta love any album that includes so many audio clips from the warriors. this record is very much of its time, but still incredibly fun and infectious.]
Active Child - "I'm In Your Church at Night" [from curtis lane EP. loved this band at the hopscotch festival and actually got a call tonight asking 'who is this?' always a good sign. we'll hear more.]
This Mortal Coil - "Kanga-Roo" [from it'll end in tears. one of the big star covers from this pretty amazing record. not something i could listen to every day - i value not slitting my wrists or sitting in my parent's basement eating a kfc famous bowl in the dark - but it is a really amazing album all the same.]

That'll do it for this week. See you at Adam Thorn tomorrow and Bear in Heaven next Monday. Until then, Go Panthers!, and take care.

J's Indie/Rock Mayhem - 3rd November 2010

[Welcome to another edition of J's Indie/Rock Mayhem. Lots of good stuff tonight - I'm fond of this show. A heads up: because of a miscalculation in uploads on podcasts this month, I won't be able to upload this week's show to Libsyn (my podcast host) until Saturday. In the meantime, I'm going to host the podcast file on my personal storage host. What this means is that if you normally use something like iTunes to automatically download my podcast from either Libsyn or iTunes, you'll have to manually right click and download the podcast from here if you want the podcast before Saturday. A small price to pay for great music. Thanks for your patience. Problem fixed and iTunes and Libsyn downloads should be available now. Thanks for your patience. This may happen again in the coming few weeks. Apologies in advance.

Also, this Sunday at 9 PM at Artistika on Elm Street in Greensboro, come join me for the Tate-Ashbury Charity Fashion Show. Over 40 60s hippie/mod outfits and clothes will be modeled for you to check out, but also the excellent Holy Ghost Tent Revival and Brooklyn, New York's Pearl and the Beard will be performing. Tickets are $10 at the door and the money goes to Susie's Fund, a charity that helps abused animals. It's all for a good cause and hey, who wouldn't like to hear me calling out people on the catwalk? Come have a great time.

Now, quicker than Christine O'Donnell can say 'merry meet and blessed be,' onward.]

J's Indie/Rock Podcast: 3rd November 2010 show

Theme Song - Peaches - "Rock Show"
>
Crocodiles - "Sleep Forever" [the title track from their latest. now that this is in rotation officially, i hope it gets a lot of plays. it's a really great record, in my humble opinion.]
Soundgarden - "Mind Riot" [from badmotorfinger. i play soundgarden very rarely and when i do, it's almost always this song. they have been more in my mind after their recent reunion.]
Deadly Syndrome - "Carried Away" [from l'aventure. if you haven't picked up this covers album of the entirety of television's adventure by various los angeles bands, well, go get it.]
Bash and Pop - "Tiny Pieces" [from friday night is killing me. tommy stinson's first post-replacements band and probably my favorite of his post-mats work in general. love this album. well worth hunting down since it's out of print.]
>
the Foreign Exchange - "The Last Fall" [from authenticity. the third release from the north carolina group finds them sticking with the gorgeous r&b crooner format of their second album with even better results. get this stuff.]
Dr. Dog - "Shadow People" [by request. from shame, shame. still haven't seen these guys live and still hate their name, but man, do they make good music.]
Bad Religion - "Cyanide" [from the dissent of man. still shaking my head good naturedly at the fact that the heartbreakers' mike campbell plays guitar on this. honestly, i think it's one of the best songs bad religion has recorded in awhile.]
Michael Penn - "No Myth" [from march. got this stuck in my head last week and it just stayed there. sure, it's his most famous song, but hey, for a reason.]
>
the Corin Tucker Band - "Doubt" [from 1,000 years. more excellent stuff from the former member of sleater-kinney's debut solo album.]
P.O.S. - "Graves (We Wrote Back)" [from never better. one of my absolute favorite albums of last year and it still packs a major punch. new album sometime soon, yes, maybe?]
the Black Angels - "Haunting at 1300 McKinley" [from phosphene dream. really loving their new album and wish i could see this stuff live. come east, young people, come east!]
Telekinesis - "Tokyo" [from their self-titled debut. i planned to play this to celebrate their forthcoming album. then, right before i leave home, i get an email sending me an advance copy of the new record. so sadly we'll have to wait til next week to hear some, but oh, will we.]
>
Cold Water Shave - "One Horse Blues" [from the grand ole uproar. mastered recordings done by the band and producer snuzz. we're going to have these guys up on the show here sometime.]
Sonic Youth - "The Empty Page" [from murray street. still ranks among my top 5 favorite albums by the band. it was a revelation when it came out, truly.]
Glasser - "Apply" [from ring. saw that this band will be opening for wild flag on their initial west coast dates this fall and then recognized the name in rotation. pretty good. we'll hear more.]
Vic Chesnutt - "Flirted With You All My Life" [from at the cut. it was a year ago sunday, last halloween, that i saw vic chesnutt for what turned out to be the last time. i drove down to wilmington to see him play at the soapbox and saw one of the best shows of my life. you are still so sorely missed, vic. so sad to think that we'll never get to hear another new album from you.]
>
Pearl and the Beard - "Voice in My Throat" [from god bless your weary soul, amanda richardson. pearl and the beard, along with holy ghost tent revival, will be playing this sunday at artistika on elm street downtown as part of the tate-ashbury fashion show: fashions of the 60s. yours truly is MC'ing this charity event raising money for susie's fund to help look after abused animals. more information here, but come on out on sunday. fashion show starts at 9, bands after, and it's $10 at the door or $5 for students or $7 for others ahead of time at design archives on tate street. come on down.]
the Replacements - "Can't Hardly Wait" (electric outtake) [from the remastered and bonus editioned version of tim. one of numerous versions of this song, but all of them are wonderful.]
Jeff Buckley - "Hallelujah" [by request. from grace. caller had wanted to hear the leonard cohen original, but when i asked if i could play her the jeff buckley one if i couldn't find the cohen, she opted for the buckley version instead. kind of a slow point in the midst of this set, but i think it worked. plus i got a complimentary call from another listener for playing it.]
Justin Currie - "A Man With Nothing to Do" [from the great war. a lot of things about this album remind me of del amitri's some other sucker's parade and that's a really good thing.]
>
Black Mountain - "Buried by the Blues" [from wilderness heart. this new album is a much less hazy journey than the previous album and something is lost in that, but something is gained also. still trying to figure out what i think of it.]
Lake Isle - "Anodyne" [from their debut EP wake up. more great greensboro rock and roll.]
the Twilight Singers - "Forty Dollars" [from powder burns. love the little interpolation of "she loves you" in this song's bridge. dulli, you scamp.]
Filthybird - "Pick Me Up" [from songs for other people. more great stuff from the mebane via greensboro band. need to have them up on the show sometime soon.]
>
Gary Wilson - "In the Night" [from electric endicott. gary sat in with the roots on late night with jimmy fallon last week and provided a serious dose of weird to the show. pretty entertaining. wish he'd been the musical guest, though, and not just sitting in with them.]
Blur - "Yuko and Hiro" [from the great escape. got this song stuck in my head the other week and, well, that's the origin of about half the songs i play each week. there you go.]
