It's time once again for that yearly event that drives restaurants, t.v. anchors, and yes, college radio stations foaming mad for a month or so. The Go Triad! Readers' Choice Awards. Go Triad, for those not familiar, is the weekly entertainment rag that is part of the Greensboro News and Record newspaper. Every year they collect votes for favorite restaurants, personalities, media, businesses and so on in the Triad area (that's Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High Point, North Carolina and all points centered within that triangle).

Every year it's a fight to the death between WQFS and WUAG, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's radio station. North Carolina A&T's radio station, WNAA, usually also makes a showing in the polls.

We need your help.

Frankly, and though I know I have a bias, it's a bias I believe is based in facts...WQFS is a much better radio station than WUAG. Our use of community voices (my own included), our dedication to the student population of Guilford College, our commitment to bringing informed, varied opinions to the station through programming such as Democracy Now show that we are truly a community radio station. Not to mention that our format is more diverse. Every two hours you are bound to hear something different on the station. You may not always like it, but the point is, it's the things you aren't going to hear anywhere else. It's what radio is really all about.

So, my readers and listeners, I beseech you to please take a minute to go vote in the Readers' Choice awards and cast your vote for Best College Radio for WQFS Guilford College Radio. You are the reason we do what we do. Help those in the Triad who aren't familiar with us wake up to what possibilities radio still has to offer.
